Kentucky Criminals Butt Dial 911, Quickly Get Arrested

Move over, Florida Man.

It’s time to make room for not just Kentucky Man, but Kentucky MEN.

Allow us to explain…

criminals

Robert Bourne and David Grigsby were hanging out in a car outside of Brothers’ BBQ in Danville on Saturday evening, talking about plans to possibly rob the eatery directly in front of them.

While they discussed their sinister plot, one of these aspiring criminals accidentally dialed 911 via the emergency function on his cellphone.

As a result, a dispatcher simply sat back and listened in as Bourne and Grigsby prematurely (and inadvertently) confessed to the crime they were preparing to commit.

Weird, right?

But… WAIT… it’s about to get even weirder…

Authorities traced the 911 call and determined from where it originated, contacting Danville police chief Tony Gray – who, as it turned out, was enjoying a meal inside Brothers’ BBQ!

Yes, the same Brothers’ BBQ outside of which the men were parked!

“When we stepped out back to talk, the dispatcher was able to pinpoint the phone, and the call was coming from somewhere in the parking lot at Brothers.

“At that time, they located the two suspects sitting in the vehicle,” Gray told the Advocate-Messenger.

He later added, speaking to a local news affiliate:

“There was some conversation about when they should do it, they might be recognized if they do it in Danville, and I think they did talk about some different locations…

“Somewhere in the conversation, my name was brought up.”

Chief Gray and other responding officers searched the parking lot until they found the Bourne and Grigsby in their car. One of them was wearing a mask.

They were both drunk.

Both men were charged with public intoxication.

Grigsby was also charged with disorderly conduct and possession of an open alcohol container in a vehicle.

The 911 tape, meanwhile, will be turned over to the prosecutor’s office to see if other charges will be filed.

Amazing. We love this story.
