Anne Hathaway is reportedly struggling with fertility issues, but as a result, the 32-year-old actress wants to adopt a baby with her husband Adam Shulman.
Anne and Adam married in 2012, and ever since, the star has often voiced her hopes of becoming a mom and having a huge family in interviews.
She even confessed that she’s wanted to be a mother since age 16, which makes her unexpected fertility woes – if true – a tough pill to swallow.
Fortunately, Celebrity Dirty Laundry reports that when one door closes, another opens, and the celebrities have begun the process to adopt a baby.
Says a source close to the situation:
“From the start the couple envisioned a large family, including some biological and some they would adopt. But, getting pregnant has been a real struggle.”
“There have been some very frustrating, heartbreaking moments. Anne was convinced that being so healthy and having a vegan diet meant that it would happen immediately.”
If only. According to the insider, she soon saw “that wasn’t the case … they visited fertility doctors and tried alternative medicines, but none of that worked.”
After they came to grips with that initial disappointment, Anne and Adam have “gotten the ball rolling on adoption,” and are “bragging to anyone who will listen.”
They won’t be pulling an Angelina, however. Anne wants to adopt an American baby rather than one from abroad because she wants to “help kids close to home.”
She also plans to move back to her native New York to raise the child, allegedly. We’ll see if this actually comes to fruition, but it’s certainly exciting if true.
