19 Kids and Counting star Jill Duggar’s delivery didn’t go “as expected”, with her baby boy arriving only after a grueling 70 hours of labor and a c-section.
And although she is certainly happy her baby is healthy, she is looking forward to a labor and delivery process that might go according to plan next time.
Ummm, is she already planning her next baby? Isn’t this one only a week old???
A midwife in training, the 19 Kids and Counting star wanted to give natural birth to son Israel David, but was advised by her doctors to have a c-section.
Strangely, her husband, Derick Dillard, is defending her for having the surgery.
“She had labored for so long. There’s no shame in that, there’s no shame in not progressing, there’s no shame in getting a C-section,” Derick tells People.
No one is judging Jill. Women have shameless, necessary C-sections everyday.
Jill, 23, states, “It was confirmation for us that God was leading us.”
“We were grateful for God showing us what to do in time.”
She is confident that her next delivery will be a natural, vaginal birth.
“We told the doctor, ‘Stitch me up really well,'” she says. “The doctor told me he has no doubt I’ll be able to have a vaginal delivery the next time.”
Jill also discloses how she kept herself together during those 70 hours.
She states that those three days were quite an ordeal, but “I was praying to God to give me strength. I was really scared and nervous, but I was praying.”
The family of three is now home and settling in.
“I love our birth story because it bonded us so well,” says Jill. “I still haven’t changed a single diaper. Derick has been changing them all.”
She adds that Derick Dillard is “doing amazing at being a dad” … something tells me we’ll be seeing another baby sooner rather than later.
